Carbamide Peroxide Gel
We don’t need to
smoke or drink lots of coffee or tea for our teeth to yellow. Naturally
the children have whiter teeth than their parents because the yellowing
process occurs with us getting older. To get that beautiful white smile
we need to make an appointment with a dentist from cosmetic dentistry.
There our teeth will be put under procedure of tooth whitening. One of
the main chemicals used for dental bleaching is carbamide peroxide gel
that causes lightening of the teeth shade. But, we can do it ourselves
at home.
The way this happens
is by applying on teeth special trays with carbamide peroxide, which is
the main oxidizing agent in the carbamide peroxide gel. The whitening
effects depend not only on our teeth ability to whiten but also and
especially on the concentration of the carbamide bleach, which may
contain between 10-35% carbamide peroxide.

although many people still do it at home.
There may be some questions whether carbamide peroxide is safe to use.
The safety issues will occur for an unborn child if woman is pregnant
or for a baby that is breastfed. Therefore, pregnant and lactating women
should avoid teeth bleaching in general. Also the people with poor dental
health such as decayed teeth, gum disease, jaw problem or the people who
wear braces or underwent recent oral surgery shouldn’t be using those
products. As usual, the best way here to have a go from your dentist,
and even more important, let him do the procedures.
To those who decide on at-home treatments whether due to the high cost of
the procedure or for some other reasons, carbamide peroxide gels can be
obtained from your dentist or over the counter from a drug store. There
are also plenty online shops where the products are readily available.

The whole treatment spans through many weeks or even months. The treatment
time depends on the manufacturer and more importantly on personal
predispositions. In some cases the whitening of the teeth is clearly visible
after just one time. Generally though, the product must be used over the
recommended period of time. If carbamide peroxide gels are used correctly,
with persistence, the whitening effect may reach somewhere from 4 to 8 shades.
Although the most popularly sold gel is carbamide peroxide 35, there even
stronger whitening gels available such as 44 carbamide peroxide gel,
which is the strongest whitening product on the market. It is recommended
to the people who have already successfully used 35 carbamide peroxide gel
and did not experienced any site effects of whitening. And just because
of the concentration of the bleaching agent, the product may cause great
gum sensitivity and should be used with caution.
